HAUTE COUTURE PARIS SPRING/SUMMER 2014... TRENDS...

From January the 19th to the 22nd, Paris was the place, it always is, where the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture allowed its few members (carefully chosen based on strict and well-defined standards) to honor by tradition the materialization of real and sublime Haute Couture… Mmmmm…

As we must know, these French Haute Couture shows in great part reveal and/or define fashion trends to come. Whether people like it or not, it is simply that way; which in my opinion is so wonderful… Paris is inevitably the ‘movable feast’ of authentic, divine, regal high fashion when it comes to HC!

 Let us go through some of the trends, besides the sticky (but adorable) BLACK & WHITE favorite, seen on these SPRING/SUMMER 2014 Haute Couture breath-taking runways, we will certainly be delighted by them…

NATURE FLAMBOYANCE:

Couturiers showed their infinite love for nature... Pure flamboyance flowing through flowers, butterflies, leaves and even safari-inspired extraordinary pieces. Oh so trés magnifique for welcoming the warm up-coming weather! (Images: Valentino & Jean Paul Gaultier)

SPORTIVE ELEGANCE:

Karl just knows how to play us around, as we leave ourselves fall into his game... Yes, we love it! Sneakers in Haute Couture? Dear Karl, are you telling us to relax and be playful with fashion no matter how dressed up we are? Well... I will leave this to your imagination and desires... Have fun with that! SUBTLE CROPPING:

Crop tops are not something new, but the way we see them here speak up pure glamour and elegance. There is nothing more attractive than the idea of showing our midriff without literally doing it. PASTEL CELEBRATION:

Probably my favorite... Uffff... CAPES or CAPE-LIKE DRESSES... Long, midi or short, they are those magnificent pieces our wardrobes are screaming for. TENDENCIAS: SEMANA DE LA ALTA COSTURA PRIMAVERA/VERANO PARIS, 2014...

Del 19 al 22 de Enero Paris fue el lugar, como siempre, donde los exclusivos miembros integrantes del Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture rindieron honor a la 'tradición' al materializar la más fantástica y sublime HAUTE COUTURE o  ALTA COSTURA… Mmmmm…

Como sabemos, las pasarelas de HAUTE COUTURE revelan y/o definen en gran parte las TENDENCIAS venideras. Guste o no, esta es una realidad; e inevitablemente Paris se convierte dos veces al año en una auténtica, divina e inigualable ‘movable feast’ cuando de ALTA COSTURA se trata.

A parte del pegajoso, maravilloso y sólido BLACK & WHITE; los invito a pasearse por algunas bellas tendencias mostradas en estas pasarelas  HAUTE COUTURE PRIMAVERA/VERANO 2014...

EXTRAORDINARIA NATURALEZA

MEET THE WONDERFUL VENEZUELAN HANDBAGS DESIGNER, CAMILA ARBELAEZ PARIS...

Venezuela, a gorgeous country known for its beautiful women, happy people, where the sun is out all year long; is also the birthplace of great entrepreneurs who carry and develop their charm, charisma, talent and creativity all around the globe...

In this case it was in Paris... Mmmmm, my lovely Paris… Where I had the opportunity to meet an spectacular Venezuelan lady; a hardworking women, full of  big dreams, fabulous ideas and an infinite passion for what she does: Design and create unique handbags as she calls it her CAP ANTI-COLLECTION.
 

Meet the wonderful CAMILA ARBELAEZ…

Camila, tell me about you. How did you end up in Paris?

I was born in caracas-Venezuela 23 years ago, but I lived in San Antonio de los Altos. During my adolescence I always showed great interest for creating accessories and for business. When I was 14 years old I made necklaces to sell to  my friends' moms and aunts… Actually, the best thing of doing business when you are a little girl is that you do not get a 'no' for an answer. When I was 17, I moved to Canada, and after I turned 18 I came to live to France. First, I lived in a small town called Belfort to later come to Paris to study acting. After a while I realized it was not my thing; so I decided to study International Business; and I began to create my handbags at the same time.
 

¿Which have been your most precious experiences here in Paris?

Living alone, starting a life, building a future from zero in the personal and professional level. All of those things have kept me grounded. On the other hand, the fact that I study in French has given the wonderful opportunity of being able to fuse my Venezuelan and Latin American roots with the European culture. I have had the chance to share who I am while absorbing other people's cultures. Also, being close to so many amazing things (artists, painters, music) has greatly enriched my professional path and my brand: CAMILA ARBELAEZ PARIS or CAP.

Tell me about your handbags and your work as a designer.
 

My handbags and my work are the materialization of my desire to leave a footprint, to share my vision, to create, to offer something different for the modern women; and of course, to represent my country. I want my bags to be that KEY ACCESSORY that reflect the personality, mood and style of the woman that wears it. I design so every woman would have a design that she can feel indentify with. I also would like to be a source of motivation for those young Venezuelans and Latin Americans to follow the way of their dreams wherever they are.

 

On what are you working now?

Right now I am focus on developing my online store CAMILA ARBELAEZ PARIS; and working on some colaborations. I also participate in collective  events and activities for new designers and artists.
 

Who or which are your main sources of inspiration?

I get very inspired by art, by my favorite artists such as Mondrian , Magritte, Frida Kahlo, Banksy, Diane Arbus, Anders Petersen, and so many others. That is why living here in Paris is so fantastic; I am constantly exposed to marvelous exhibitions of famous painters, photographers, sculptors... This helps me discover more about color, shapes, figures. And, of course, my parents are one of my main sources of inspiration. I admire them. They are for me an example of the perfect combination between passion for work and passion for life.

What would you tell to those young Venezuelans with big dreams just like yours who are living and going through this country tough situation?

Time is a privilege for us; so why not start to work for our dreams NOW? If we make a mistake we can start over; or if we accomplish any success, we have the chance to make it a bigger one. There an avalanche of new great talents (artists, architects, musicians...) in Venezuela. We can easily see it in blogs, Facebook, Instagram... Venezuelans have a SPECIAL SOMETHING; that is why we need to be ready to show an give who were are and what we have. Tomorrow is uncertain, we must act today.

CONOZCAN A CAMILA ARBELAEZ... Espectacular Diseñadora Venezolana en Paris.

Venezuela, hermoso país conocido por sus bellas mujeres, gente alegre, donde sale el sol todo el año; también es cuna de grandes emprendedores que llevan y desarrollan su encanto, carisma, calor humano, talento y creatividad por el mundo entero…

 

En este caso fue Paris… Mmmmm, siempre Paris… La gran Ciudad de las Luces, el lugar donde tuve la fortuna de conocer a una espectacular chica venezolana, trabajadora, llena de grandes sueños, de fabulosas ideas e infinita pasión por lo que hace: Diseñar y crear carteras únicas, algo a lo que ella llama la ANTICOLECCIÓN CAP por su exclusividad.

 

Conozcan a la maravillosa CAMILA ARBELAEZ…

 

Camila, háblame de ti, y ¿cómo fue que llegaste a Paris?

Nací en Caracas-Venezuela hace 23 años, pero viví en San Antonio de los Altos. Durante mi adolescencia siempre manifesté mucho interés por la creación y los negocios. Cuando tenía 14 años hacía collares y zarcillos, y se los vendía a todas las mamás, tías, etc. de mis amiguitas… El mejor negocio cuando eres pequeña es que nadie te dice que " NO”. A los 17 años pasé un tiempo en Canadá; allí mi pasión por otras culturas despertó. Cuando cumplí 18 años me vine a Francia; primero a un pueblito llamado Belfort, y luego a Paris. Aquí empecé a estudiar actuación (me encanta) pero no era lo mío; así que me decidí por el Comercio Internacional; y paralelamente con mis estudios comencé a crear.

 

¿Cuáles han sido las experiencias más enriquecedoras que has tenido desde que llegaste a Paris? Digamos, tus más grandes aprendizajes.

 

Mis experiencias más enriquecedoras han sido el vivir sola; comenzar una vida, un "ecosistema", un futuro partiendo de cero en la parte personal y profesional. Todo eso me ha permitido tener siempre los pies sobre la tierra. Por otro lado, el hecho de realizar mis estudios en francés ha sido una oportunidad mágica para fusionar lo venezonalo, lo latinoamericano con la cultura europea, y así compartir quien soy y mi cultura mientras absorbo las de las de otros. Además, el poder estar tan cerca de tantas cosas increíbles y diferentes (artistas, pintores, personas, música) representan experiencias valiosísimas en mi camino profesional, y por supuesto en mi marca: CAMILA ARBELAEZ PARIS.

 

Háblame de tus carteras y de tu trabajo como diseñadora.

 

Mis carteras y mi trabajo son la materialización de mis ganas de marcar, de compartir mi visión, de crear, de ofrecer algo diferente a las mujeres de hoy; y muy importante, de representar a mi país. Busco que sean ese ACCESORIO CLAVE que representa la personalidad, estado de ánimo y estilo de esa mujer que lleva una CAP. Yo diseño para que toda mujer pueda encontrar un modelo con el que se identifique. Además, la mayoría de mis diseños son únicos; entonces la cartera CAP que lleve una mujer, le pertenece solo a ella. Finalmente, también pretendo que mi trabajo y creaciones sean fuente de motivación para otros jóvenes venezolanos y latinoamericanos en el camino hacia sus sueños donde sea que estén.

 

¿En qué te encuentras trabajando ahora?

 

Ahora estoy concentrada en el desarrollo de mi tienda en línea CAMILA ARBELAEZ PARIS; y en algunas colaboraciones que ya están en agenda. Por otro lado, participo con colectivos de artistas aquí en Paris realizando eventos y encuentros entre nuevos diseñadores y artistas en general.

 

¿Cuáles y/o quiénes son tus principales fuentes de inspiración?

 

Me inspiro muchísimo en el arte; en mis artistas favoritos como Mondrian , Magritte, Frida Kahlo, Banksy, Diane Arbus, Anders Petersen, y tantos más. Por eso vivir en Paris es maravilloso; ya que estoy expuesta a constantes exposiciones de grandes pintores, fotógrafos, escultores… Al menos una vez por semana visito un museo o una galería. Eso me permite descubrir aún más sobre el color, las formas, las imágenes. No puedo dejar de mencionar a mis padres como una de mis principales fuentes de inspiración. Los admiro. Ellos representan un ejemplo; pues son una combinación perfecta entre la pasión por el trabajo y la pasión por la vida.

 

¿Qué le dices a esos jóvenes venezolanos con grandes sueños como los tuyos en una Venezuela tan difícil?

 

El privilegio de ser joven es el tiempo que tenemos. ¿Por qué no empezar AHORA a trabajar por nuestros sueños? Si nos equivocamos podemos volver a comenzar; y si logramos algún éxito, nos queda tiempo para hacer de ese éxito uno aún mayor. Ahorita en Venezuela hay una avalancha de gente queriendo hacer cosas increíbles a nivel artístico (diseñadores, músicos…), queriendo promover cosas diferentes y espectaculares. Prueba de ello está en los blogs, Facebook, Instagram, etc…Hay tanto talento y el venezolano tiene ESE ALGO indefinible y especial que lo hace diferente. Por eso, tenemos que estar dispuestos a mostrar y compartir lo que somos. El mañana es efímero, hay que hacer las cosas hoy.

 

Querida Camila, gracias por tu ejemplo. Es un honor hablar de venezolanas como tú. Venezuela sigue y seguirá siempre mostrando sus tesoros por el mundo entero…

RESORT 2014 FABULOUS TRENDS...

Many of you are still experiencing hard wintery cold, but there is no better way to warm-up a bit; at least to warm up our thoughts, than to think about all the RESORT 2014 FASHION TRENDS… Oh, yes! So let´s go through some of the cutest ones…
 

Lovely crop tops, fabulous artistic & tropical prints, pleats, minis, voluminous, structured and safari-inspired pieces … They were so beautiful and for every style and body type. But there were a few TRENDS I found especially adorable… Take a bite…
 

1. NAUTICAL STRIPES: I just a-dore this TREND. True it is that NAUTICAL STRIPES will always be a classic, but designers as usual find their way to inject an updated vibe to them through cuts, volumes, width and great combinations. Some pieces were more feminine than others; while blue, black and white were the designers (and our) favorites. So perfectly chic! (Images: Marni,Valentino)

2. MAXI DRESSES & SKIRTS: Boho or glamorous , these maxi dresses and skirts in light, solid or vibrant hues; with edgy or romantic prints were very much present in the Resort Collections runways. If you find these maxis irresistible (they certainly are) remember to always consider ‘proportion’and your body type when choosing which one to wear and how to compliment it. 3. GORGEOUS DENIM: Denim were all around. It seems that easing classic pieces through the use of this casual fabric, mostly in light tones, is the way to go. My faves? Two-pieces denim ensembles; so modern and beautiful! (Images: Chloé, Balmain)

 

4. BAGGY TROUSERS: There is something so sexy about wearing men-inspired clothing… Ufff… I adore it! Who said that looking gorgeous meant being uncomfortable? 5. FEMININE LACE: For those of us suffering from old-age-thinking (like it is not in our genes, right?); celebrate that LACE is a must (thank you, designers!); it always is! Pieces in this classic fabric make us look forever-elegant and chic. But if you feel like toughen it up, there were plenty of pieces created with modern net-like materials, so go-for them! TENDENCIAS: COLECCIONES RESORT 2014...

Todavía muchas de ustedes siguen viviendo el fuerte frío invernal; pero no hay mejor manera de calentarse (al menos calentar los pensamientos e ideas) que pensar en todas las fabulosas TENDENCIAS que las COLECCIONES RESORT 2014 nos traen... Aquí algunas de las más bellas...

 

El mood RESORT 2014 se orienta hacia lucir espectaculares crop tops, prints artísticos o tropicales; pliegues, mini faldas, piezas voluminosas, con estructura o tipo safari... Para todos los estilos, gustos y tipos de cuerpo. Sin embargo, entre las TENDENCIAS que encuentro especialmente adorables están…

 

1. RAYAS NAUTICAS: Adoro las RAYAS NAÚTICAS; ciertamente son un clásico y siempre lo serán. Los diseñadores, como de costumbre, les lograron dar un toque actual y moderno a través de cortes, volúmenes, anchos y combinaciones variadas. Algunas piezas más femeninas que otras; mientras que los colores favoritos son el negro, azul marino y blanco... Perfectamente chic! (Imágenes: Chloé, Chanel)

 

2. MAXI VESTIDOS Y FALDAS: Con una vibra boho, glamorosa, edgy o romántica, en colores claros, sólidos o vibrantes; estos MAXI VESTIDOS Y FALDAS estuvieron muy presentes en las pasarelas. Si los encuentras irresistibles (ciertamente lo son), recuerda considerar siempre la 'proporción', tu tipo de cuerpo y complementar tu look acorde con eso. 3. SENSACIONAL DENIM: A los maravillosos diseñadores de hoy les encanta complacernos al modernizar piezas y cortes clásicos utilizando el DENIM. Este material casual pero único, principalmente en tonos claros, parece ser 'the way to go'. Mis favoritos son los conjuntos... ¡Realmente maravillosos! (Imágenes: Jason Wu)

 

 

 

4. PANTALONES BAGGY: Hay algo tan sexy cuando lucimos moda inspirada en la ropa de hombre... Ufff... ¡La adoro! ¿Quién dijo que para vernos espectaculares debemos estar incómodas? Los PANTALONES BAGGY, esos con bastante espacio, cuando los combinamos inteligentemente nos hacen lucir cool, relajadas y muy chic; perfectas para que nuestra fuerte pero bella personalidad quede en evidencia, ¡lo máximo! 5. ENCAJE, TAN FEMENINO: Para aquellas que amamos los clásicos (Cómo evitarlo, si para algunas simplemente está en nuestro genes este amor total) como las piezas en ENCAJE; pues está vez podremos gozar de lucirlas de formas muy modernas y siempre elegantes. Sin embargo, para aquellas que no se sienten cómodas con esa vibra algo romántica; muchos diseñadores propusieron piezas muy al día en materiales tipo malla o web-like...
