There are always two times in the year
when we, lovers of the art of couture and fashion, await with deep excitement. We
close our eyes and imagine how the beloved Charles Frederick Worth started all
through the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture back in the XIX century… Then,
mesdames et messieurs Lanvin, Vionnet, Chanel, Schiaparelli, Poiret, Fortuny,
Dior and Balenciaga; they easily come to our minds (and hearts) as if we
have lived with them during those days. Mmmmm…
Well, this past HAUTE COUTURE FASHION
WEEK FALL/WINTER 2015 in Paris (and this time Valentino in Rome) the high fashion maisons did not let us down, they never do.
In the name of tradition and the art of
couture, here some of the most exquisite trends to let ourselves feel very inspired…
CELESTIAL MEDIEVAL PRINCESS
Flowy dresses with wonderful draping and
celestial airs filled almost every runway. In a wide variety of hues, from
pastels to black, this silhouette delighted every public, no matter how
avant-garde they called themselves. It was just irresistible not to not desire
them. (Images: Dior, Ralph & Russo and Valentino)
BAROQUE LOYALTY
Extraordinary volume, beading, glittery,
and lots of excess of detailing were accomplished with such great craftsmanship.
The result was baroque royalties everywhere. Really perfect! (Images: Zuhair Murad, Giabattista Valli and Elie Saab)
SUBLIME TRANPARENCIES
Transparencies played with such sublime
techniques and forms, and the use of spectacular lace, chiffon and tulle; gave
the public a clear idea of what elegant, supreme sensuality is about… Vulgarity
was of course out of the equation, so definitely it could not get any better. (Images: Zuhair Murad, Maison Margiela and Atelier Versace)
FEATHERY ARTISTRY
Dreamy feathers or fabrics that simulated them played an key note in the artistry
accomplished in beautiful gowns and fashion pieces. Feathers placed as detailing or as protagonists certainly took many breaths ways. (Images: Armani Prive, Giambattista and Fendi Couture)
SOPHISTICATED RUFFLES
Playful but very sophisticated, ruffles
were an important part of these magical days. Besides the craftsmanship involved
in their execution, it is always the volume obtained through them that
enchants us all over and over. (Images: Alexandre Vauthier, Atelier Versace and Stephane Rolland)
BLUE FANTASIES
Blue was apparently the favorite color
that stood out besides the beloved black & white. In every hue: dark, navy,
tint, vibrant, baby or pastel blue, it became a constant. So lovely! (Images: Elie Saab, Zuhair Murad and Valentino)
God blessed these extraordinary maisons
and all the people behind them that dedicate thousands of hours to keep HAUTE
COUTURE still very alive!
LIFE IS A RUNWAY
