It is almost Thanksgiving; and we are really getting into that happy bonding, sharing, celebration spirit. Well, inspiration and ideas to make our Thanksgiving the most wonderful one at home become so convenient and necessary; especially if those ideas and inspiration come from those who absolutely own great taste and impeccable class. GREAT TASTE, EXCELENT MANNERS, STYLE AND FASHION BEGIN WITH INTEGRITY...

So many things are happening in the world… Confusing consumerism, uncertain economies, menacing radicalism; let us say that there are ups and downs everywhere in any possible area of our society. From politics to religion, to education to ethics to fashion! So much information, trends, ideas and nuanced ideals… Wow, how easy our head can feel spinning dizzy!

 

Now, going back to the main theme of this blog; that for sure goes beyond ‘fashion’… Going back to being a beautiful human being, to GOOD TASTE and EXCELLENT MANNERS; things are getting pretty ugly; and the whole idea of making our lives a lovely ‘runway’ is being in constant attack.

 

Lately, I have seen rude excess, awful pretention, a great deal of immorality, total absence of common sense; and worst of all, LACK of INTEGRITY.

 

There is no denial that the morals and values that once made women and men spectacular human beings; are now being push aside; and honestly, watching the process is devastating!

 

But, this is not and cannot be the end! This recognition should take us to devote ourselves to the revival of the most outstanding taste and manners; especially when it comes to making our reality a permanent runway; a journey that clearly starts from the inside out.

 

So, if you are in, let’s remind ourselves what comes first:

• INTEGRITY comes first. Our words, actions and fashion should be aligned with our morals and values. We are not skin for sale!
• WATCH OUT! PRETENTION push us away from our true and honest essence and charm. Honor who you are! Stand up straight and be the best version of yourself. Showing off is just the opposite of what good taste and great manners are all about.
• BE TRUE; wear clothes and style yourself in a way that truly reflect the authentic, real YOU. The best YOU, of course.
• SET THE EXAMPLE. Dress and act properly and accordingly; remember that VULGARITY is simply a way of absolute disrespect; and cannot be farther from what true beauty is. Therefore…
• SHOW RESPECT TO EVERYONE, and with ‘everyone’ comes YOURSELF FIRST. We live in a society we must contribute with positively; be responsible and respect it!
• KEEP IT SIMPLE. Remember that most of the times; less is more, much more beautiful. EXCESS is just excess; and usually speaks up real bad taste!
• Lastly, ENJOY this runway call life! And stay humble, be kind, thoughtful and loving in the process!

EL BUEN GUSTO, LAS BUENAS MANERAS, EL GRAN ESTILO Y LA MODA COMIENZAN POR LA INTEGRIDAD DEL SER HUMANO...

La vida es maravillosa; pero sabemos que los retos van de la mano de toda esa maravilla; y a veces lo fácil se vuelve no tan fácil. ¡Qué cantidad de cosas 'retadoras' suceden en nuestro día a día! Consumismo desaforado, economías inciertas, gobiernos en colapso, amenazantes radicalismos. Digamos que por donde veamos; los altos, bajos y las pruebas que debemos superar abundan cada vez más. Desde política hasta religion; pasando por educación (o más bien la falta de ella), ética, moral hasta llegar a la moda; existe tanta información, tendencias, ideas e ideales peligrosamente matizados; que inevitablemente están generando tanta, tantísima confusión.

 

Pero volviendo al tema principal de este blog; que por supuesto va mucho más allá que la buena 'moda'; volviendo al ideal de convertirnos en seres humanos maravillosos, fieles a las BUENAS MANERAS y al BUEN GUSTO; no cabe duda que el camino se nos hace cada vez más cuesta arriba. Vemos y sentimos como la meta de hacer de nuestra vida una verdadera y valiosa 'runway' o pasarela es atacada permanentemente.

 

Somos testigos de un aumento brusco de terribles excesos, espantosa pretensión, fuerte inmoralidad, falta de sentido común; y lo peor de todo, una ausencia total de INTEGRIDAD. Y ver como la sociedad empuja a un lado todos los valores, la moral y los principios que una vez hicieron de hombres y mujeres seres extraordinarios; ¡eso es realmente devastador!

 

Pero, no todo está perdido; es más nada lo está; pues el reconocer esta realidad nos da la oportunidad, conciencia y la inspiración para revivir el más espectacular  BUEN GUSTO y las más fabulosas BUENAS MANERAS; y así hacer de nuestras vidas una verdadera 'runway'; algo que claramente comienza de adentro hacia fuera del ser humano.

 

Por eso, vale la pena siempre recordarnos a nosotros mismos lo más básico; de todo aquello que viene primero:

• ¡LA INTEGRIDAD viene primero! Nuestras palabras, acciones y forma de vernos y vestir deben estar alineadas con nuestra moral, valores y principios. ¡No somos carne para la venta!
• CUIDADO CON LA PRETENCION. El 'pretender ser' empuja al ser humano muy lejos de su verdadera esencia y encanto; y por supuesto, de todo lo que el buen gusto se trata. Recordemos honrar siempre quienes somos, y trabajar por convertirnos en la mejor versión de nosotros mismos.
• SER AUTENTICOS Y SINCEROS. Nuestras ropas y estilismos son el medio por el cual nos comunicamos y reflejamos nuestro verdadero 'mejor ser'; hagamos que todo valga la pena.
• SER Y DAR EL EJEMPLO. El vestir y actuar apropiadamente según el lugar y la ocasión deben ser unas de nuestras prioridades. Sabemos que la VULGARIDAD es una forma muy grave de irrespeto y se aleja de la verdadera belleza de la mujer y el hombre. Por esa razón...
• MOSTRAR RESPECTO A TODO EL QUE NOS RODEA  empezando por nuestra persona es un deber supremo. Vivimos en sociedad; y respetarla e impactarla de manera positiva ha de ser una prioridad.
• LA SIMPLICIDAD habla del mejor de los gustos. Casi siempre; menos es más y mucho, muchísimo mejor. El EXCESO es solo eso, !exceso!
• Finalmente, nos toca DISFRUTAR al máximo de esta pasarela que es la vida; manteniéndonos siempre humildes, amable, considerados y muy, muy humanos.

PARIS FASHION TRENDS, PRÊT-À-PORTER COLLECTIONS SPRING / SUMMER 2017...

Paris, my absolute favorite ‘movable feast’! Really, I cannot feel more in tune with how Hemmingway used to call it… Or wasn’t it a spectacular feast during these past days of the Spring / Summer 2017 runways!? It was amazing!!! Mmmmmm… Delightful fabrics, right on point embellishments; pure artistic craftsmanship, beyond beautiful tailoring, perfect construction and deconstruction, so much black and white (so tradition remains); pieces and head-to-toe looks for every single style; from the most classic and feminine to the edgiest fashion lover. Everything dedicated to keep inspiring us. Paris is always so, so special!

Here just un petit apéritif of some delightful trends during these prêt-à-porter collections…

ROMANTIC TRANSPARENCIES

There was an extraordinary parade of ultra elegant and feminine transparent dresses; with  the most exquisite cuts, draping and detailing. Gorgeous beading and embellishments to die for. Simply spectacular! (Valentino, Alexander McQueen, Dior)

FULL ASSYMETRY

 

Fabulous asymmetric hems, cuts, paneling, prints & patterns; detailing, embellishments, rich draping, construction vs. deconstruction, mix-media, clashing styles and vibes; resulted in a total celebration of creativity and panache. (Aganovich, Mugler, Esteban Cortazar)
 

 

UNEQUAL SLEEVES AND SHOULDERS

Also showing the designers' great appreciation for asymmetry and the artistic spirit involved in it; there were plenty of dresses, jumpsuits, tops and jackets displaying one cold shoulder; high-low lengths, pieces built through strategic structure and/or draping; plenty of ruffles, feathers and a lot of texture. RUCHED, RUCHED

From subtle to very extravagant, stand-out ruched sleeves, necklines, or all over tops and dresses; this technique made hearts beat. Many of them had ultra-feminine airs; while others exudes total modernity and edginess. Sometimes uneven volume is what we really need! (Ellery, Paskal, Haider Ackermann)

 

 

TOTAL LOVE #1 FOR B&W STRIPES

Black and white stripes; wide, thin or ‘melangés’, that is mixed; became one of the top favorite prints on the Parisian runways. Just like the following desirable trend... (Andrealages, Courrèges, Marimekko)

THE BLACK LEATHER SKIN-TIGHT PANT AND MINI

Both, timeless and can’t-live-without Parisian trademarks; the skin-tight black leather pants and black leather mini skirt needed to be present in the runways, bien sûre; rocking their way with full panache and very sensual, intriguing charm. So perfect! (Paco Rabanne, Dior, Saint Laurent)
 

THE TUXEDO IS FOREVER

There were spectacular, updated and ultra-sexy black tuxedo; with the traditional pants or as dresses.  Timeless, infinitely tasteful and charged with exquisite nonchalance; just like when our beloved Saint Laurent showed it off in the 70’s. The effect of this jaw-dropping two-piece is still very, very alive. Probably more than ever! (Nehera, Dior, Saint Laurent)

 

GORGEOUS BLACK LACE

Gorgeous dresses or separates in exquisite black lace fascinated a public that could never possibly ignored it when it enters the stage. Because, black lace can always deliver the perfect mix of modern sophistication and mysterious femininity! (Andrew Gn, Olivier Theyskens, Marie Elie)

DRAMATIC NECKLINES

There were seen wonderful necklines with dramatic geometric, asymmetric, constructed or deconstructed shapes; as well as romantic, whimsical and edgy details; having all their big theatrical momentum on the catwalks. (Emanuel Hungaro, Rick Owens, Acne)
 

 

FLOWY CAPES

As the perfect stylish and ladylike addition to show-stopper looks; beautiful flowy capes delighted. (Dries van Noten, Balain, Elie Saab)
 

 

BRIGHT LOVELY ORANGE

An explosion of bright orange on well-thought fresh ensembles warmed up the space and added a great deal of excitement. Really; what a fantastic color! (Undercover, Agnés B, Haider Ackermann)
 

PLUNGING NECKLINES

Totally sexy but really sophisticated and tasteful dresses and tops with superb plunging necklines, showed off the right amount of skin as they make a long line of looks become unforgettable and oh-so covetable. (Paule Ka, Balmain, Givenchy)

 

SAFARI MOOD

Safari inspired looks in their never outdated colors: Camel, beige, light brown and brownish green; with their easy but well-curated fits and silhouettes; rich buttons and pockets; looked very comfortable but so lovely; totally dragging the public into a full safari mood! PLEATS PLEASE

Wonderful sleek pleated dresses and skirts stood up in their vibrant, playful color combinations, metallic hues or in back and white. How could designers leave them out of the equation! Never! (Chloé, Valentino, Jacquemus)

 

THE GOLDEN LADY

As if they were taken out of a dream; ladies in full gold dresses left the observers breathless; and the ladies wanting to become regal golden girls themselves forever. Beyond spectacular! (Saint Laurent, Balmain, Pascal Millet)
