Paris, how much we love our City of Lights, where we find fashion as part of its air! We feel it... Paris means tradition when it comes
to couture and high fashion, which obviously is reflected in all the prêt-à-porter
collections… So perfect, irreverent and inspiring.
Here some trends that stood out on our favorite Parisian runways…
NONCHALANT ASSYMETRY
Free, artistic asymmetry was mastered through volume, seaming,
layering, structure, mix-media detailing and styles. Ultra cool nonchalance! (Images: Talbots Runhof, Lanvin, Jacquemus, Isabel Marant)
HYBRIDS, THE PERFECT MIX OF OPPOSITES
It is so hard to define ourselves through one and only
style, right? Not a problem, because most of the collections were about hybrids
designs and ensembles; the perfect melange of opposites: Feminine & masculine,
elegant & laid-back, sophisticated & edgy, glamorous & tough,
excess & minimalism. (Images: Miu Miu, Dior, Barbara Bui, Loewe)
TRANSPARENCIES
Either through small, soft detailing and paneling; revealing sheer dresses, skirts, pants and tops; or through transparent
layering; sheerness played a big, very chic role. (Images: Balenciaga, Anthony Vaccarello, Akris, Alexandre McQueen)
MILITARY COOLNESS
Military details such as big buttons, belts, pockets; tailored suits, edgy jackets, trench coats and army-inspired sets;
helped revived that tough and powerful spirits of bravest through our beloved high fashion. (Images: Guy Laroche, EACH X OTHER, Anne Sophie Madsen, Chalayan)
NO CURVES
French fashion is about not having to prove anything
to anyone. Designers have learned to read that in our spirits and minds; and so they created for us
edgy dresses and pieces with curveless silhouettes and flow. (Images: Kenzo, Maison Rabih Kayrouz, Moon Young Hee, Dior)
FRINGES GOING STRONG
We keep finding gorgeous fringes everywhere;
reinvented in the most glamorous or coolest of ways. They were seen in trims,
hems, sleeves or all-over detailing. So beautiful! (Lutz Huelle, Loewe, Alexandre Vautier, Barbara Bui)
70’s RETRO VIBES
Flares, high-waist bottoms, flowy peasant tops and frocks, miniskirts and
shift dresses, earthy colors, abstract loud prints and florals celebrated those 70's vibes we adore in Parisian fashion territory. (Images: Pascal Millet, Bernard Chadran, Andrew Gn, Talbot Runhof)
SHIRT-DRESSES
Mostly in classic colors; white, blue and black; shirt
dresses kept proving that comfort, easiness and irreverence need to always be
part of the French fashion vibes. (Images: Julien David, Vetements, Lemaire, Lutz Huelle)
VOLUME
Paris is known for its many designers that love
whimsical volumen and structure; so as part of this tradition, it was a
trend that was totally present and achieved mostly through loud ruffles, knots and abundant fabric. (Images: Aganovich, Yohi Yamamoto, Cedric Charlier, Guy Laroche)
THE SUPER COOL LEATER JACKET
The classic black with edgy spins, or re-edited colored
versions of the leather jacket that those tough, fearless guys (and women) from
the past crowned as the coolest fashion piece on earth; these leather toppers
spoke out, as they should, on the runways. They accompanied all kind of dresses
and ensembles. A forever favorite they are! (Images: Louis Vuitton, Courrèges, EACH X OTHER, Vetements)
MESH-MERIZING
Mesh was so popular, seen from New York to Paris; adding its particular cool, edgy and sexy essence to very fabulous looks. Uffff... (Images: Sharon Wauchob, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Iris Van Harpen)
