Avant-garde fashion is London’s trademark. British risk,
edgy, cool and even a little dark (in a positive way) interpretation of fashion
is what we always expect, desire and, of course, what we also get!
Here some hot trends seen in London’s SPRING / SUMMER
2016 ready-to-wear collections…
PUFFED, VOLUME-CHARGED SLEEVES
Voluminous, puffed sleeves; short, medium or long; added
a touch of classy as well as nutty allure to a long line of fascinating
ensembles. (Images: Emilia Wickstead, Erdem, J.W. Anderson, Simone Rocha)
NATURE-INSPIRED DESIGNS & PRINTS
Spring always calls for designs inspired in species & creatures from nature; and so there
where totally present and making statements in the British runways. Nature-inspired
prints, patterns, designs and embellishments in all sizes and colors had quite
some glorious moments during these fashion days. (Images: Osman, Mary Katrantzou, House of Holland, Giles)
LOOSE SILHOUETTES
Tops, skirts, pants, dresses and suits with loose, comfortable
and somehow irreverent drapes, cuts and lines generated charming and stylish easy
going vibes through their easy going silhouettes. (Images: Jasper Conran, Antonio Berardi, Vivienne Westwood Red Label, Sibling)
RUFFLED APPROACH
Rich, playful ruffles added a special and feminine pizzazz
to hems, sleeves or complete ensembles. Ruffles' stylish power and craftmanship are so very on! (Images: Peter Pilotto, Erdem, Marques Almeida, Osman)
COVETED PINK
Multihued pink played a big part in the British
catwalks; from pastel to vibrant ones. Who would have thought that this girlie
color could look so cool and updated in the land of the avant-garde? A classic
color that never fades away! (Images: J.W. Anderson, Vivienne Westwoood Red Label, Ryan Lo)
LOVE FOR EXCESS
Many pieces and total looks raised the wow-factor
through an attractive excess on volumen, details, cuts, embellishments, prints,
patterns, mix of styles and fabrics… Charming and artistic excess, ideal for
the thirstier fashion souls! (Images: Emilia Wickstead, Ashley Williams, Mary Katrantzou, Marques Almeida)
COLORFUL FASHION PARTY
A lot of geometry, abstraction of prints and pattern;
rich mix&matches, vibrant multicolored fashion pieces; so much asymmetry,
transparencies and pop-art inspired designs turn on the party-mode in London’s fashion
shows. Ufffff…. Perfect! (Images: Christopher Kane, Holly Fulton, Anya Hindmarch, Ashish)
BIG ON STRIPES
Stripes in all
sizes and directions were ‘the big thing’. This classic basic design played a
huge role in so many collections; especially in primary colors. No doubt
stripes and their simplicity could always be reinvented in the most fabulous
ways in the fashion world. So lovely! (Images: Gareth Pugh, Roksanda, Joseph, Emilia Wickstead)
Next stop, Milan.
LIFE IS A RUNWAY!
