FASHION TRENDS: MILAN SPRING / SUMMER 2017 READY-TO-WEAR COLLECTIONS…

Milano, wow Milano… A city deeply adored by so many; especially when it comes to fashion. Personally, not only profoundly grateful with this city that changed me forever during my years of fashion studies there; but a loyal believer that this place brings together all the greatness of the Italian spectacular and impeccable taste, tailoring, craftsmanship and tradition; all of it without ever letting modernity scape.

There is so much to say… But why more words, it is all so clear… Here only a few of the to-die-for trends seen on the Italian spring / summer 2017 ready-to-wear collections. They would certainly keep us inspired for the months to come and on, and on, and on…

THE ROCOCO PRINCESS
Extraordinary, mesmerizing rococo princesses brought right to our time flowed gracefully through the catwalks; in their favorite sweet pink, blue, yellow, gold… Wearing dresses and ensembles made of exquisite fabrics, richly embellished and full of opulent detailing that only supreme craftsmanship could accomplished. Royally spectacular! (Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Gucci)

TEXTURE CELEBRATION

Fabulous dresses, skirts, tops and toppers stood out with their beautiful extravagant textures that were achieved through artistically worked fringes, ruffles, feathers, fur, mixed media and fabrics; and asymmetric seams. Clearly daring but oh-so lovey! (Prada, Ermanno Scervino, Gucci)

SHEER STRAIGHT DRESSES

I believe that from now on even the most traditional (even the most naïve) fashion-public will not be able to resist and embrace the sheer straight dress! The most wonderful see-through absolutely elegant and tasteful dresses became a hit on the runways thanks to their exquisite beading, brocades, embellishments and accents of mixed materials. (Leitmotiv, Maurizio Pecoraro, Dolce & Gabbana)

HEAD-TO-TOE STRIPES

Head-to-toe ensembles in stripes of all widths and combinations of hues; from the classic black & white to the most colorful mixes; became a common denominator in a long list of the Italian brands. Certo, stripes could never be out of style! (Ports 1961, Alberto Zambelli, Christiano Burani)

THE ROCKER, THE SUPER STAR

The rock super-star that lives in the real work (the one that perpetually lives in our day-dreams) had her big momentum on the catwalks. All-black or white ensembles of cool and edgy leather pieces with grommets, beading, studs, zippers, heavy metal details and/or nonchalant cuts; many of them paired with fabulous boots, invited the public to become one totally hot rock star. How can we not accept?! (Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini, Richmond, Philipp Plein)

VINTAGEY FLORAL DRESSES

Lovely flowy floral dresses; many of them see-through or with high-low hems; added their touch of comfort without giving up a great sense of style. They were usually paired with edgy pieces; such as leather jackets and cool shoes, for that extra modern ‘something’ so necessary to accomplish our great sense of individuality. (Blugirl, Mario Dice, Daizy Shely)

THE PERFECT OBI BELT
For every style and taste; eye-catching obi-like belts injected a great dose of cinch, polish and panache to gorgeous dresses, suits and coats. Another beloved classic that never becomes obsolete and out of style! (Les Copains, Fausto Puglisi, Philipp Plein)

METALLIC ENSEMBLES

Fabulous metallic ensembles; dresses, suits or separates; in lamé, paillettes or shimmery materials delighted that public who is always ready to add much excitement to their wardrobe and to turn on their disco-spirited fashion souls every time possible! (Gucci, Au Jour Le Jour, Blumarine)

LADY IN PINK

Simple, delicate, and elegant; never boring; light pink looks filled these fashion dreamy spaces with timeless beauty and sweet airs. (Bottega Veneta, Blumarine, Byblos)

Next stop, magnifique Paris!
