When one thinks about London’s fashion and style, inevitably
the idea of edgy & avant-garde comes to our mind. It was as so, still is
and hopefully it still will be; because there are things that should not change
for the sake of our forever dreamy spirits, right!?
Here some very desirable trends from the spring /
summer 2017 London’s fashion collections to get inspiration from…
THE BEAU BRUMMEL GIRL
Full of dark romance, timeless good taste, tamed
extravagance and true modern elegance; men-inspired ensembles; principally based on dark suits (preferably accompanied by shirts with huge bows at their necklines), invited
the public to start their transformation into the ‘Beau Brummel lady’ of today.
A personification impossible to resist! (Burberry, Roksanda, Julien MacDonald)
FEARLESS DECONSTRUCTION
Artistically deconstructed and totally asymmetric coats, jackets, tops,
dresses, pants, and separates in general; clearly stated the roots of London’s
fashion; always appreciative of a total irreverence and freedom. No doubt a fearless
attitude is what all of these collections are all about! (Toga, Emilio de la Morena, Christopher Kane)
COLORFUL ART CELEBRATION
As the result of edgy cuts and silhouettes, mix-media,
and a mélange of artistic movements; from figural art, passing through pop-art up
to total abstraction; a long list of runways became a colorful, extraordinary, true
celebration of art! (Mary Katrantzou, Roksanda, Capara)
MODERN BAROQUE
Gorgeous suits and artistically tailored pieces made
of silky fabrics, jacquards; beautiful metallic embellishments,
luxurious extravagant details; such as wonderful ruffles, bows, high necks and
voluminous sleeves; resulted in the most perfect opulence meets refined edge. Fantastic! (Burberry, Erdem, Marques Almeida)
THE STORY-TELLING DRESS
Spectacular whimsical colorful dresses full of artful detailing,
designs, prints, symbols, images and motifs transformed lovely pieces into wonderful
story-telling treasures; definitely worth to be added to our perpetual dreamy pseudo-reality. (Mary Katrantzou, Christopher Kane, Roberta Einer)
THE TRENCH
Not the typical camel trench we would expect; but
trench coats with fascinating twists, such as XL volumes, asymmetrical fits and
cuts, and original belting; make their statement in a crowd of mysterious but
oh-so covetable fashion looks. (Joseph, Sharon Wauchob, Burberry)
