It is always so
exciting to see what the NYC based designers have for us each upcoming season.
I have to say that this 'see now, buy now' new way has turned off the
excitement for me a bit; but hey, our Sex & the City plus Gossip Girl plus
Devil Wears Prada plus Suits plus… The line goes on & on… Inner girls inevitably
get butterflies in their stomachs, waiting to be fill with inspiration after
the Big Apple´s runways. Mmmmmm…
Here some very
covetable trends seen during these days. Definitely, none of them to be
ignored…
KNOTS ARE HOT
There were very
cool knots destined to create a mélange of asymmetric silhouettes; as they were
strategically placed on necklines, waist, hips, sleeves and/or hems on dresses
(especially shirtdresses), tops and skirts. (Carolina Herrera, Adam Selman, Proenza Schouler)
ULTRA LONG
SLEEVES
Flowy or
structured, many bell-shaped, ultra-long sleeves became one of the top favorite
designers´ statement detailing. They spoke up about charming irreverence,
something very hard not to fall for! (Vera Wang, Jenny Packham, Sies Marjan)
Beautiful
pleated pieces: maxi and midi-skirts, dresses, flowy tops or stand-out pleated
details; clearly stated the still very alive appreciation for honest femininity. (Victoria Beckham, Dion Lee, Jason Wu)
THE PUBLIC BRA
Lovely ensembles
with fearless displays of bras were all over these runways. A trend to be
interpreted with care and fine style, but not for that less super gorgeous. (Altuzarra, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Tibi)
Still strong and
conveying the perfect mix of sexiness and sophistication; the silky slip
played a very important role in numerous collections; many embellished and especially paired with edgy pieces. (Johathan Simkhai, Prabal Gurung, Narciso Rodriguez)
SHIRTDRESSES FOREVER
There were
lovely long, midi and short shirtdresses full of beautiful ladylike modernity
and comfort; so perfectly convenient and desirable for our warm-weather routines.
Because looking fabulous is a habit! (Christian Siriano, Akris, Marissa Webb)
A little more
covered up than ´the public bra´, sensual and glamorous cropped tops
accompanied gorgeous all-length skirts and pants of varied volumes and fits; one
for every youthful style. (Rodarte, Jill Stuart, Jeremy Scott)
The biker, the
bomber, the rock & roll or the classic-cut on denim jacket in white added
an exquisite modern pizzazz on fabulous mostly all-white ensembles. (Zac Posen, Carolina Herrera, Boss Women)
Wonderful knit dresses with vibrant colorful stripes of mixed widths,
mostly in primary and secondary colors; injected a playful but on-point special
easiness. (Opening Ceremony, Rosie Assoulin, Proenza Schouler)
Delightful red flowers, rich
ruffles on tops, dresses and hems; ultra-feminine skirts;
all in bright red, crisp white and/or elegant black became the proof that flamenco
vibes are very on! (Tome, Jenny Packham, Marchesa)
MARINE SOPHISTICATION
A superb tasteful marine sophistication was wonderfully felt in the catwalks through navy blue total-looks; blue and white stripes, tailored marine-inspired pieces, big gold buttons, red accents and impeccable silhouettes. Fabulous! (Oscar de la Renta, Sies Marjan, Jason Wu)
Next stop,
London town…
LIFE IS A
RUNWAY!
