FASHION TRENDS IN PARIS, FALL/WINTER 2017 PRÊT-À-PORTER COLLECTIONS...

Paris…. Mmmm… Don’t we all adore this city?! And, what a better way to close the runways than in the ville lumière, as usual. From classy, elegant and minimal trends to modern, edgy and loud ones; this fabulous diversity of the French fashion is a constant we cannot not stop appreciating and adoring.

No doubt there were repetitive trends in the fall/winter 2017 collections in all of the four mayor fashion weeks; such as strong asymmetry (especially on necklines and hems), artsy vibes, feminine bucolic airs, glamorous silhouettes, transparent dresses, florals and stand-out prints, bows, knots, ruffles, deconstruction, bohemian charm, ethnicity, black leather, eclecticism… But the French-stablished houses always have something more to add to enrich this list. So, here some delightful trends to fall for…

ABSOLUTE WHITE

Lovely head-to-toe white ensembles were really popular. Their simple but precious charm resulted from beautiful strategic layering; asymmetry or perfect minimalism. (Giambattista Valli, Akris, Chanel)

ULTRA HIGH BOOTS

A popular element, taken from vintage archives of the 60s & 70s fashion, were the over-the-knee boots. Bohemian but chic and stylish; they looked absolutely gorgeous mostly with short dresses and long ones with sexy high-slits. (Andrew Gn, Dior, Isabel Marant)

FULL TEXTURE

Artsy textures in a wide range of materials and playful mixes achieved through patchwork, paneling, fringes, feathers, 3D motifs and especially ultra-rich ruffles of wonderful volume; were shown on fabulous looks as they spoke out desirable edginess and irreverence. (Alexander McQueen, Sacai, Balmain)

METALLIC DRESSES

Beautiful metallic dresses in paillettes, lames, silks, jerseys… Showing off bright sensuality and pizzazz had their big moment on the runways. Short, midi, or long; curve-hugging or a bit loose; they caused total fascination. (Redemption. Mugler, Rochas)

ON POINT MASCULINITY

An on point masculinity was very much embraced; as it was magnificently seen in menswear-inspired tailoring, cuts and details. There were fabulous suits in plaid, glen check, twill, herringbone and other beautiful wools, that transmitted wonderful character and strength. (Saint Laurent, Off-White, Paco Rabanne)

THE COAT-DRESS

Gorgeous coat-dresses; long, midi or over-the-knee, satisfied those souls thirsty for sophistication and ladylike panache; a must-have that would fit any body type and could perfectly be taken from daytime to date-night. (A.P.C, Alexis Mabille, Anne Sofie Madsen)

COLORFUL VOLUMINOUS FURS

A superb display of colorful and voluminous furs (hopefully faux), created a delightful excitement that was undeniable once they were moving on the runways. Stand-out furry details and trims, stolas, jackets, coats; and even skirts accompanying elegant suits, dresses and separates created or completed fantastic ensembles. (Leonard, DROME, Shiatzy Chen)

THE VERY HIGH SLIT

Yes, we have seen it over and over; and it cannot look more fresh and updated! We might be calling the ultra-high slit the forever on-trend trend; because it is; and we adore it! All the sensuality, sophistication and femininity can be summarized in this absolutely extraordinary cut. Now and forever it is ours to enjoy! (Y Project, Elie Saab, Valentin Yudashkin)

Now we have got plenty to get inspiration from! So, let's keep it going... Yeah!

LIFE IS A RUNWAY!
